Composting! On our journey to being more sustainable, we have added a composting banana circle to one of our garden beds. Ellie, our sustainability officer, talked to the children about how the compost bin will be helping the plants and the environment. At the moment we are starting to develop some great art nature-inspired work which supports our philosophy of experiential learning using our environment. The children have really enjoyed cutting different leaves and flowers off of the bushes outside to then be able to paint and experiment with them. We are slowly moving into nature threading and the children have really enjoyed this week using our nature contact wall where they were able to stick whatever they like on to the wall outside to make a large nature collage. ... Some of the Kindy children were playing in the treehouse when they heard an educator call their names. What had she found? Someone had planted dinosaur fossils in the nursery sandpit and we needed some helpful friends to help her discover them! The children were so excited. They used paint brushes and magnifying glasses as well as some sandpit tools to help them uncover all the different fossils. ... See MoreSee Less
